albums that made 2010 better…

14 Dec

And now begins my lists of the year. Starting off with my favorite albums (and favorite tracks from said albums), or the albums that have stood out to me the most. It should be noted that not all of these were released in 2010. I am a bit slow. BUT, these are definitely the albums that were my fave for the year…

Counting down from…

9. Vampire Weekend – Contra (Horchata)

8. Phoenix – Wolfgang Amadeus (Rome)

7. Various Artist – Dark Was The Night (Service Bell: by Feist & Grizzly Bear)

6. Local Natives – Gorilla Manor (Who Knows Who Cares)

5. Glee Soundtrack (Umbrella/Singing In The Rain) – Wait wait wait… before you hang up on me, give me a little bit of a break. Everyone needs a break from life, a break from anything that makes sense. Glee is my go-to when I just need to listen to something that makes me want to dance. It is what I listen to when I don’t want to think about my problems. It’s what I listen to just for the hell of it because it’s fun! I love to sing, I love to dance. So sue me. You have no idea how often these songs have made the worst day a little better…

4. Sarah Jaffe – Suburban Nature (Clementine)

3. The Avett Brothers – I and Love and You (The Perfect Space)

2. Arcade Fire – The Suburbs (We Used To Wait) Though I do have to say… The transition between The Suburbs and Ready to Start is still one of my favorite things in the world ever. Genius!

1. Seryn – Demo (Beach Song) Or some might know that song as the closer of their live set, or “Here We Are”. If you haven’t heard me say it once, I will say it again… Seryn has changed my life. Their music has moved me in a way that music hasn’t moved me in years. Yes, it sounds dramatic… but I wish I could convey to you how true this is. I bought their $5 demo after seeing them 3 times live. I am so excited about their full-length album coming out in January. It will have my favorite song of theirs on it – So Within. If you haven’t checked them out, now is the time. Stream their demo here.

Wait… don’t go anywhere else until you listen to Seryn. Seriously!
